Stellenbeschreibung
THIS MUCH DOING ISN'T DOABLE AT JUST ANY COMPANY.
SHARE YOUR PASSION.
We believe in creating an environment where our interns really can learn by doing and where they are given their own areas of responsibility right from the start of their time with us. That’s why our experts will treat you as part of the team from day one, encourage you to bring your own ideas to the table – and give you the opportunity to really show what you can do.
We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied master thesis in the area of Isogeometric Analysis (IGA), Finite Element Analysis, and physical hardware in the crash design process, with a focus on IGA Solid modelling. The primary objective is to identify the factors which have the strongest effects on the IGA modelling of different solid mesh vehicle components relating to both performance and accuracy.
What awaits you?
- IGA Modelling of vehicle components: The first step will involve converting CAD data into simulation ready models, including any parametrization and connector modelling.
- Design and execution of simulation studies: The IGA components should be simulated in a way that allows both comparisons to FE simulations and hardware tests, as well as in a way that allows for thoughtful analysis.
- Validation and Verification: The IGA simulations will be extensively evaluated using relevant datasets and benchmarks. The model's accuracy, computational efficiency, and generalization capabilities will be assessed to ensure that the models enhance the overall crash performance prediction capabilities.
- Analysis of relevant parameters and limits: Using the validated model’s analysis should be undertaken to understand why the model are behaving in certain ways and how the models can be modified to increase performance and/or accuracy.
Please note that your thesis must be supervised by a university on your part.
What should you bring along?
- Strong background in Finite Elements, with experience in IGA, prior knowledge of LS-Dyna and ANSA would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with programming languages and tools for data processing, model development, and integration (e.g., Python, Animator, Beta-Suite).
- Ability to work with large-scale simulation databases and extract relevant training data.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex engineering challenges.
- Creativity and innovation to explore novel approaches and extend existing methods.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for presenting research findings and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with a team of researchers and engineers.
What do we offer?
- Comprehensive mentoring & onboarding.
- Personal & professional development.
- Flexible working hours.
- Digital offers & mobile working.
- Attractive remuneration.
- Apartment offers for students (subject to availability & only Munich).
- And many other benefits - see bmw.jobs/benefits
