München: Working Student - Lab Student Experimental/Nanofabrication (m/f/d)

Huawei’s Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technical research, architecture evolution design, and strategic technical planning.

The Optical Technology Laboratory is part of the Huawei Munich Research Center. In our lab, we aim to develop new digital signal processing algorithms for the next generation of fiber-optical links. One important challenge is the design of efficient forward error-correcting codes and decoding algorithms, which need to operate at extremely high data rates. We are looking for a working student who is interested in assisting us with code design.

Working Student: Lab Student Experimental/Nanofabrication (m/f/d)

Your Mission
You will help experienced colleagues in building optical setups for the characterization of optical devices (mostly LC-based). You will measure the properties of optical devices, such as diffraction efficiency or switching time. You will conduct nanofabrication experiments related to the implementation of LC devices.

Student Profile:
The working student should have:

• A solid background in optics/photonics
• Profound knowledge of typical optical lab tools, such as power meters, spectrometers, optomechanical and polarization components, and experience working with lasers in the IR range
• Basic nanofabrication skills

Job Location:

• The student will work at the Optical Technology Lab in the Huawei Munich Research Center.
• Upon interest, there is also the possibility of a thesis.

Working Hours:

• Part-time, from 12 to 20 hours per week
• Flexible working hours
