Master Thesis Attitude Reorientation (m/f/d)
The AOCS/GNC department is seeking an enthusiastic and result-oriented master student to support the development of Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms for Attitude Reorientation Guidance and Control of spacecraft. This thesis offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of AI and spaceflight dynamics.
Your Tasks
- Expand and refine the review on RL applications in spacecraft attitude control.
- Participate in selecting the most promising RL algorithms for the given application.
- Implement and optimize the selected algorithms, ensuring suitability for real-world spacecraft scenarios.
- Assess the performance and compare RL-based methods against heritage algorithms developed within the department.
Your Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics/Control Engineering, AI, or Computer Science, with a focus on Machine Learning or Control Systems.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python.
- Hands-on experience with Reinforcement Learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Stable-Baselines3).
- Familiarity with rigid body dynamics and control is a strong plus.
- A proactive and analytical mindset with a passion for AI-driven space applications.
