The Ophthalmology Precision Medicine team aims to improve patients' vision through personalized treatment guided by biomarkers. Experienced scientists and clinicians use AI to analyze imaging data to find novel biomarkers that correlate with treatment responses and outcomes. This approach can help predict disease progression, determine the most effective drug for each patient, and optimize treatment duration, ultimately improving patient outcomes. Join this internship to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of clinical imaging scientists and data scientists to pioneer new imaging biomarkers, and work alongside drug development teams to leverage existing imaging biomarker tools.
The opportunity
You will be hands-on supporting an annotation campaign for the development and validation of deep learning-based image segmentation algorithms for biomarker research
You will have the opportunity to attend team meetings to understand the impact of imaging biomarker research on drug development
Who you are
Biology or medical student (currently enrolled in full or part-time higher education) with experience and exposure to ocular imaging and multiple imaging techniques in industry or clinical settings
Interested in learning about retinal anatomy and capable of annotating ocular images required for developing new AI-based imaging tools
You are proactive and can work independently and diligently
You exhibit a strong work ethic with a positive, team-focused approach
You communicate fluently in spoken and written English
The preferred start date of this internship is July 1, 2025.
