Next generation mobile communications systems must meet challenging requirements in terms of signal quality, sensitivity, and dynamic switching performance. Today’s RF test systems are not adequate to determine these key parameters with sufficient accuracy at reasonable cost. To address this challenge, NI develops sophisticated hard- and software for testing and measurement of future 5G and 6G communication systems.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Contribute to the development of mixed-signal circuits for upcoming USRP SDR hardware
  • Create tools and scripts to enhance simulation efficiency and design processes
  • Perform hands-on testing of new components and compare results with simulations

Who You Are:

  • You are passionate about wireless technology and like to learn and work with the latest test and measurement techniques and equipment. 
  • You can manage your time well and reach out to mentors with questions to help drive progress and completion of goals and tasks. 
  • You work effectively in a group environment, problem-solve, and diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions.

For this Role, You Will Need:

  • Ongoing academic studies in Computer Science, Information System Technology, Electrical Engineering or comparable fields of studies (from 4th semester)
  • Basic understanding of mixed-signal electronics and circuits
  • First practical experience in Python programming
  • Basic experience with test instruments (signal generator and oscilloscope)
  • Good command of spoken and written English and/or German
  • Availability for 5-6 months starting in April 2026
  • This internship must be a mandatory part of your studies

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Experience with Mixed-Signal circuit design and simulation
  • Understanding of radio frequency system architectures
